The kids seem to like this one. I make up nametags with the appropriate answer on them. I make up index cards with facts about that answer (usually three index cards per answer). For example, if the answer is “pulmonary system” (Hello, my name is Pulmonary System), there will be three index cards with facts unique to the pulmonary system.

I put the nametags on the kids — On their backs, so they can’t see their own nametag! (the nametags are on sheets of paper hung by yarn so they can slip it over their heads.) Then I mix up all the index cards and pass those out. The students can read all the answers by looking at the nametags on people’s backs, and they have to give the correct index cards to the correct people.

The students get a chance to connect the answers to the properties, and then they have to read the index cards they received to figure out what nametag is on their own back.

    I play football
on the overhead I have a football field with hash marks. Depending on size of class divide them into two teams. Each team elects a captain (only their answers count) The other team can’t talk. flip a coin to see who goes first. receive on the 20. Everyone takes a turn rolling a die(a pair one for each team is needed)a roll determines the yards the turn is worth. Say 6 comes up, for six yds ask a question from the upcoming test or text. The person who rolled must answer, the captain can agree or disagree and give their answer. Only the captains answer counts. The team must answer correctly to get yds. I have a helper to move a football shape along the field and write on the board what yd line they are on. Four downs or rolls to get first and ten is needed to keep going. I pick a number say three, if they roll a three it is a pass play, it gets ten times the next roll for the yardage (like a four is rolled so that question is worth 40 yds) but if the team doesn’t answer the pass question right the other team can answer (without discussion for the interception)(if the other team talks they can’t intercept and it is incomplete) the captain can choose to pass or go for the three yds (safer play) If a team can’t move the ball 10 yds in three plays the captain can choose to go for it or kick to the other team 10 times the roll of the dice determines the yardage. The other team takes over from there and they go back and forth. Touchdowns count 6 pts and extra points won by the captain picking a player to answer a question by themselves.
All get to participate and all must roll. Talking out of turn is discouraged (answers don’t count). They catch on quickly and I let them write questions down they don’t know as a teat review.

    Basketball
I use a nurf basketball set I put up on the wall. Divide into two teams. Each team takes turns answering questions on test or text. If they get it right their team gets 2 pts. and they shoot the nurff basketball for 3 extra pts. I mark a distance that makes it possible for them to do well. I have a score keeper and someone who retrieves the ball if they miss (extra shots that are unauthorized results in a point off the score (stops the fooling around.
Most like this and everyone can play not just the athletic ones.

    Hollywood squares
I make overheads of cartoon characters on transparent plastic and seperate them and put them on the overhead in tic tac toe form on wt board or chalk board.
I assign a person to pick a character until they are filled Say Bobby is sponge bob etc. Then I have one kid challenge another as players. In turn they pick a character. I ask that person a question from test or text and the player agrees with the character’s answer or not (lieing is allowed and some get very good at it). If the players answer is correct (agree or disagree) the player gets that square X or O. Then the next player has a turn until a tic tac toe happens. A push goes to the champ. The looser gets to pick the next challenger. After several games others can get a square and a new set begins. I try to include all (even if they don’t know the answer, lie).

Something involving candy! My high school students loved review games when candy was involved.

Just make sure to buy in the bulk food section — those fun size candy bags are expensive.
